The history of bubble gum:
Chewing gum has a history that been around for a long time. Ancient Greek chewed mastiche. This gum was made from resin of the mastic tree. Chewing gum was made in many different ways, including beeswax, sweet grass and leaves. Many people tried to make gum but a lot of the gum failed to sell. The first commercial chewing gum was made in 1848 by John Bacon Curtis. It was called Pure Spruce Gum. Frank fleer experimented with bubble gum. He wanted to produce gum that blew bubbles but didn’t stick. It took a lot of hard work to accomplish making bubble gum. In 1982 Walter Diemer made fleer gum successful. He was an accountant for the fleer gum company. He tested new gum recipes and found out that he can create bubbles. Diemer's Bubble gum was the first ever commercially sold bubble gum. The Fleer Chewing Gum Company began making bubble gum using Diemer's recipe. The gum was named and marketed as Dubble Bubble gum. They trained people to blow bubbles. Frank fleer founded bubble gum. It was the first time that food coloring was used.
